Developing and maintaining proper throwing mechanics is imperative for the health and longevity of the throwing arm. A significant number of injuries to the elbow and shoulder in a young throwing athlete are due to poor throwing mechanics. A significant number of these injuries can be prevented by learning how to throw correctly and efficiently prior to the development of poor throwing habits. Once an injury does occur, it is extremely important to analyze throwing technique once the athlete returns to their sport to prevent further injuries from re-occurring. After returning the injured throwing athlete back to the field, videotape analysis of their throwing mechanics are performed periodically through the progressive interval throwing program to insure proper technique therefore preventing further injury or recurrence of injury from developing.
